Equi-Cell
is a liquid vitamin and mineral hematinic supplement containing
essential levels of iron, copper, B-vitamins, antioxidant vitamins,
and selenium for horses in a palatable easy to feed base. |
| What
is a hematinic supplement? |
 |
| |
Hematinics
contain iron, copper and B-vitamins that are essential building
blocks for the body’s red blood cells. Vitamin B-12
is used in the bone marrow to produce red blood cells. Iron
is essential for the formation of the hemoglobin within these
cells. Copper acts as a coenzyme in hemoglobin production.
Cobalt is also needed for B-12 utilization.
Most horses have approximately 40 quarts of blood in their
body. Red blood cells carry oxygen to tissues and cycle carbon
dioxide back to the lungs. Typically the red blood cells out
number the white immune system cells about 1,000 to 1. A third
of the red blood cells are hemoglobin, which are produced
in the bone marrow. The red blood cells have a life cycle
of about 3 to 4 weeks.
Use care in selecting a hematinic supplement for your horse.
Since there are many interactions between minerals and vitamins,
Equi-Cell has been carefully formulated to provide not
only the best levels for your horse but safety and effective
supplementation as well. Equi-Cell contains Ferric Ammonium
Citrate for optimal iron assimilation. Other key nutrients
for supplementing against anemia are anti-oxidants, Vitamins
A, D and E, and selenium. Equi-Cell is carefully manufactured
to remain in suspension and is very palatable (always shake
bottle before dosing for best homogeneity).
